GUI and catalogue browsing
Bernienor
I have nearly analyzed 25TB of data. And in addition to using Jumper as a project based AI tool, I'm pretty sure many share my desire for a cross project / full catalogue tool. Here are some of my concrete ideas and suggestions for the road ahead after also using a few of the other tools currently out there.
Browsing the catalogue / GUI
In a single project case of a few hundred files, Jumper seems to do the trick.Normally inside the NLE I as an editor have a pretty good understanding of the material inside that specific project.
But for me, I Am also hoping using Jumper also as a catalogue for all my videos going back years. Imagine a personal stock library and B-roll catalog.
Sometime I believe I want to see and browse my catalog to get ideas. Find a shot, browse similar shots. Catalog wide, or narrow down to a project, a year or something.
Today that GUI isn’t there - even tho the data is. I know one can select "search data outside project" But the GU, filters and navigation to do that properly ain't inplace yet imo.
I have been trying a software called PEAKTO (https://cyme.io/products/peakto/) prior to Jumper and they have an easy to use interface. They seem pretty inspired by Lightroom and similar photo apps and I believe that is where they started. And have progressed into video.
A few features;
You can browse by file structure
You can make smart folders
You can rate
You can color code
They read tags, and keywords in addition to analyse
You can rescan a folder for updated / added files and analyse those new ones
You can view a map using GPS data
AI is also tagging files.
It’s really quick! (I've indexed the same material in both PEAKTO and Jumper. And unfortunately it's far quicker to browse in Peakto at the moment.
It’s very user friendly.
But it’s not perfect. I believe Jumper can be in the future.
What PEAKTO do NOT have, that jumper EXCELs in, is the ability to inject materiel directly into a timeline. Without the need of XML export / import.
As I've said before, If Peakto and jumper had a baby, that would be the ONE app video producers would want.
At this time a one-man-band, I have no need for external workflow with remote editors etc. But that will be a requirement in the future. I see yo have some ideas on that.
Hope this can give you some ideas :)
Keep up the great work!

I’m in the same boat. I’m using Jumper for my personal and purchased stock catalogs. It’s decent for a simple query, but has some room for growth.
I agree about adding a lot of filter options (both positive and negative). Currently, everything is just one big bucket.
I’d also like the option to tag files, or even export clip sections and rename them based on tags. That way longer files could be made into smaller files, ideal for distribution and sharing to stock sites or social media.

Thank you Bernienor! What would you say is the most important thing (or things) that Jumper is currently missing? We're planning to add more search filter options that can be applied prior to the AI search, more "simple" things like e. g. filtering by resolution, date range, or other properties readable from EXIF data.

mgl Thanks for the reply! Im glad to help.
For me the ability to browse based on file structure is the biggest miss atm.
And as file structures goes, they can become long and intricate. A Dropdown would not be the way to go, one would have to have an expandable tree structure to navigate in. Have a brief look at the screenshot in the post above. That route is simple, quick, visual and works 100%.

Bernienor I see, thank you! anton actually implementated something like this already (we called it "Media table 2.0"), we just never got around to finalizing the implementation. Hopefully we can get to that once we have the Windows versions of the Resolve and Avid plugins done and we've launched the new products.

mgl great :) Have a good one!
